Key Responsibilities:
- Meet with marketing to discuss new product design or modification requirements.
- Collaborate with production and marketing on product feasibility.
- Design and provide drawings and manage a list of drawings of the Company’s products. From here calculate the cost of making the product and materials needed.
- Produce product drawings including technical drawings for production usage.
- Oversee the production of new product samples or prototypes. This includes the packaging needs. From here Assembly Instruction is then prepared.
- Review and test samples for functionality, ease of use, and longevity.
- Liaise with production and QC departments in resolving product issues.
- Ensure all records and documents of all related activities are properly kept and keep the management informed of the various developments and progress.
- Acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to that level of competence to achieve efficiency in working in the R & D department.
Requirements:
- Degree/certification in art and design, engineering, mechanical engineering, or relevant field.
- 2+ years’ experience as an R&D officer is preferable.
- Encourage fresh graduates to apply.
- In-depth knowledge of furniture design/manufacturing is favourable.
- Proficient with computer design software like AutoCAD.
- Marketing and design experience preferred.
- Ability to translate design concepts into physical objects.
